Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

Posey

This isn't meant to delight in Buster Posey's broken leg -- he's a good player and seems like a good guy -- but merely to note that the Giants' incredible run of luck*, which propelled them to a title last year, appears to be at an end. The Giants are a good team with amazing pitching, but from the start it was going to be hard for them to repeat given their patchwork offensive personnel. Everything went right for them last year. Something has now gone wrong.

*or devil worship.
