Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

What's with the hand-holding?

I mean honestly. I know I'm just piling on here. The liberal bloggers are all over it. But what is this?

"We are merely exchanging long protein strings. If you can think of a simpler way, I'd like to hear it."

[UPDATE: The New York Times actually had an enlightening piece in the Week in Review explaining, in so many words, that to Saudi men, hand-holding between men is a ritual of close friendship. Because Saudi men don't hang out with their oppressed female counterparts, they develop what some people might regard as unnaturally intimate relationships with one another. Of course, this all points up the extraordinarily close relationship between the Bush family and the House of Saud, not that anyone in the media would want to question the appropriateness of it.]
