Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

Yeller

Some new stuff coming shortly. There is a big backlog of stuff that isn't related to Philly sports that I want to write about, but computer and Internet access has been a problem of late, with a busted laptop and post-Salon job search in the works.

What I think I'm going to try to do with this blog is swing a good deal of focus to movie reviews, written as actual reviews, perhaps weekly, which would form about one third of the content on this site, with the inevitable tortured musings on the Eagles and a renewed focus on things political and cultural each representing another third.

So those out there who could care only slightly less about politics will have something for them and those who could care only slightly more about seeing Dick Cheney's nethers stapled to a splintery chunk of plywood will have a reason to read as well.

Please stay tuned.
