Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

At last, I missed it

It was pretty awesome. The Phillies won the World Series Wednesday night, ending a 25-year championship draught for the city of Philadelphia, a ridiculous and perhaps unprecedented stretch of time for a four-sport city to endure without a title.

What wasn't awesome was coming home from work last night and discovering that the painters doing some work inside our house had unplugged the television and DVR, meaning that part two of Game 5 of the World Series had never recorded. Meaning I missed the whole thing. That was real, real bad.
