Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

Adam Carolla conquers the Internets

Just a few days after his morning radio show was cancelled due to a wholesale format change at the L.A. radio station where he was based, Adam Carolla has the most downloaded podcast on iTunes. (And the country/planet/universe? Are there other organizations out there that track podcast popularity?)

It's somewhat ironic that it took his cancellation for me to check out his show, though mostly it just reflects how Internet-based technology strips away geographical constraints. I'm trying to figure out if Carolla was on the air here in the San Francisco Bay Area and it's surprisingly difficult. It seems the answer is yes, he was for a time, but it's unclear how long that lasted, since the station he was on appears to have changed its ownership, format, call sign and place on the dial in recent years.

Anyway, I'd rate myself as a mild Carolla fan, but he'll always have a place in my heart for hanging up on Ann Coulter.
