Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

Hating on 'Phantom Menace'

Moving on from the fiasco that was my last post. This offbeat dissection of "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" is pretty funny. The critic, if that's what you'd call him, avoids a lot of the obvious stuff, eg the disconcerting racial stereotypes, and digs into why "Phantom" made for such a bad story. The most compelling point may be how weak the various characters are.

It features a macabre subplot and is not safe for work. Thanks to mld for the link.
