Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

What's good for Apple

I read today how Apple had its best quarter ever. Happy days are here again.

On a related note, the power adapter for my MacBook broke (the cord frayed) and I needed a new one. I went to the local Apple store to pick one up. The price? $80. For a power cord.

Now, I suppose I'm stupid for buying anything at the Apple store and not trying to find a cheaper venue. But I needed to replace my adapter quickly because I had work to do. Still, $80? That's obscene. What's the most it could possibly cost to make one of those things, five bucks? That's a 1,600 percent profit. I'm disgruntled.
