Hornswaggler | The culture, the humor, a bit of the sports, not so much the politics, and the workplace distraction

Hornswaggle is an alternate spelling of hornswoggle, an archaic word that means to bamboozle or hoodwink. I take my pronunciation from the late Harvey Korman in "Blazing Saddles" --

"I want rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists!"

Stewart and Sanchez

There seems to have been some confusion among reporters and editors about Rick Sanchez's firing. I saw a lot of headlines and stories that appeared to suggest Sanchez was fired from CNN for calling Jon Stewart a bigot. That's not why he was fired. He was fired for comparing his bosses at CNN to Stewart, whom he had just described as a bigoted elitist, and throwing in a Jews-run-the-media platitude for good measure. If all he'd done was call Stewart a bigot, he probably would have been reprimanded and ordered to issue a statement of apology.

I'm not sure what was so hard for everybody to understand here. It's common sense. It's like posting, "I hate my stupid job, my bosses suck," on Facebook. You're going to get canned.
